A few words about my clockmaking background

You may be interested to know, that there are two categories of clockmakers: "the Smallers", those who make and repair watches, and "the Biggers", those who make and repair intricate clocks of all kinds (grandfather, wall clocks etc.). I belong to the latter category.

My name is Andrey, i am 43 years old and 23 of them I have been working as a clockmaker. My career of a clockmaker began in a famous Moscow watch and clock workshop in Stoleshnikov lane where I started learning the craft of clockmaking from Nikolay I. Gurianov and other masters who had long experience of working in the twenties of the last century in such renowned artels as "Kalashnikov & Son", "Precise Time" and others. Under their guidance I worked for five years, absorbing their unique knowledge and craftsmanship, combining the theory and practice. Later on I started working by myself.

My contacts with a client don't stop after the clock has been repaired. I do filing of all the antique and modern intricate clocks I have repaired through all these years and once in three years I call up a client to know "how the clock feels" and offer a preventive maintenance. I do this as the maintenance terms for wall and table clocks require their cleaning and lubricating every three years. For grandfather clocks service must be done every five years.

At present I am working at a service center specialized on maintenance and repair of grandfather, wall and other kinds of intricate clocks.
